Aging begins as early as our twenties and as we move into our thirties and beyond the effects of gravity can become apparent in the sagging of jawlines and dropping of the lower face and jowl area. The PDO thread lift has been design to effectively reduce the signs of aging and drooping using the careful insertion and placement of sterile stitching threads which support facial structures and provide a visible lift to the face without the need to surgery.

Who is suitable for the thread lift?

A thread lift is best suited to men and women between the ages of 35 and 70.

The procedure is most effective on skin that has some, but not excessive, sagging and offers the best results for cheeks, jowls, brows and the neck area. The thread lift is an ideal choice ideal those looking for results that are more effective and longer lasting than toxin treatments and dermal fillers.

The thread lift is an excellent alternative to the traditional facelift, offering more youthful looking contours without invasive treatment or downtime.

How does it work?

A thread lift is a type of face lift that is often referred to as the ‘lunch hour lift’. Due to its simplicity and the time it takes to carry out the procedure.

The treatment involves the gentle insertion of the most medically advanced polydioxanone (PDO-synthetic fibre) threads into the skin with a fine needle. The threads will create a supportive mesh under the skin and deliver an immediate and a progressive lift while smoothing away the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

The threads gradually dissolve over 6-8 months, but during this time it encourages the skin to produce fresh collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid – the building blocks of youthful skin. This results in a reduction of wrinkles, fine lines, jowls, loose skin on neck, eye bags and dark circles under eyes, long after the threads have dissolved!

What happens during treatment?

Gone are the days of the frozen forehead! Our medical practitioners are able to pin point the correct muscles responsible for lines and to accurately administer the dose required to smooth away wrinkles, whilst maintaining natural movement and expression. During consultation our medical practitioners will establish patients requirements and ensure a subtle but effective result.

What happens after treatment?

Anaesthetic is injected prior to treatment to ensure that the procedure is as comfortable as possible.

A tiny entry is made by the ear then fine threads are advanced along pre-marked contours.

The thread lift is performed by a GMC registered Doctor with specialised training in the procedure and extensive experience in facial contouring and rejuvenation.

A typical thread lift procedure takes as little as one hour, but it depends on the number of threads the doctor uses and the areas being treated.

What are the after effects?

Thread lifts can cause minor side effects such as, bruising, swelling, tenderness, numbness however these should subside in the days after treatment and should also be discrete enough for your usually routines to remain undisrupted. Recovery time is usually less than one week, although strenuous exercise should be avoided for 2 to 3 weeks.

How long do the results last?

A thread lift’s lasting power depends on the age of the patient at the time of procedure and how much sagging the thread lift has corrected. It should be noted that sagging will return over time, but many doctors report that the results remain visible for anything between 2 and 3 years. To extend the results it is possible to have additional threads inserted and our doctor can advise you when this is required.
